Nokia X6 Launched in Hong Kong as Nokia 6.1 Plus Android One Phone for around Rs 20,000

Nokia X6 has just made its way outside Mainland China. As per rumor mills, Hong Kong is the first country outside China to get an official glimpse of Nokia’s latest mid-range smartphone, that has apparently caught the attention of fans and media worldwide, all thanks to its notched display and highly competitive specifications. With that said, HMD Global decided to launch the X6 in Hong Kong as under the Nokia 6.1 Plus moniker.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is being pitched as the successor of the original Nokia 6, however, internally, its non-other than the X6, that was so far exclusive to China. The smartphone is, in fact, reported to be making its way into Taiwan soon after Hong Kong. It would, however, be interesting to see whether HMD Global plans to stick to the Nokia 6.1 Plus moniker in Taiwan. Just in case, they do it may end up being the international moniker for the smartphone in all of Nokia’s international markets.

The only major difference the international variant of the Nokia X6 has over its Chinese one is the presence of Google’s latest Android One project on top of Oreo (8.0). Besides, HMD Global decided to compromise on NFC for the Nokia 6.1 Plus. Furthermore, they refrained from launching the blue variant of the smartphone in Hong Kong.

Internally, the Nokia 6.1 Plus shares everything in common with X6. Upfront, it features a 5.8 inch 19:9 FHD+ IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. On top of that, the panel has bare minimal bezels on all three sides, except for the chin. The forehead of the smartphone, in fact, feature aanApple iPhone X like notch, which seemingly has become very popular among mobile users worldwide.

Powering the Hong Kong variant of the Nokia X6 aka. Nokia 6.1 Plus is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor. This is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Moreover, there’s further room for memory expansion up to 400GB via a microSD card slot.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus has a pretty commendable camera setup. It features a dual rear shooter comprising of a 16MP primary and 5MP secondary sensor. Both sensors miss out on OIS but make up for the same with the presence of EIS. That aside, it has an 8MP front shooter for clicking selfies. More importantly, both the cameras on the Nokia 6.1 Plus come with built-in AI capabilities. Other features of the smartphone include USB Type C, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS and GLONASS. As for security the Nokia 6.1 Plus feature both the fingerprint scanner and face recognition sensor. The Face Unlock feature is powered Nokia 6.1 Plus’ AI backed front camera setup.

Nokia 6.1 Plus: Price, Availability in Hong Kong
HMD Global has launched only a single variant of the Nokia 6.1 Plus in Hong Kong, as compared to the multiple variants of the X6 found in China. It will be available only in the 4GB RAM and 64GB memory configuration. Besides, the Finnish parent firm has priced the Nokia 6.1 Plus slightly higher than its pricing in China. The mid-range smartphone would retail for 2,288 HKD ($292/Rs 20,155 approx.). It will be available for sale in the country starting July 24.
